Welcome to Our 127.0.0.1 – Media Temple

Adobe MAX was bringing its 14,000 attendees to Media Temple’s hometown of Los Angeles in 2018. I came up with the idea to create a conference notebook that doubled as a guide to LA – with the recommendations coming from Media Temple employees. The concept helped reinforce Media Temple’s brand pillar of friendly support that cares about its clients.

I drove the creative direction and writing, collaborating with gig-poster artist Eric Nyffeler and Media Temple’s in-house designer Yu Chang.

Building the core art piece as a network of creative, technological, and geographical communities, we balanced depictions that represented aspects of all three.

The 32-page Scoutbook gave plenty of room to take notes on conference talks, interspersed with spot recommendations and occasional full-spread guide pages.

To provide those recommendations, I surveyed employees from across the organization to build a wide-ranging list of bars, restaurants, and things to do, centered around the Los Angeles Conference Center. I then edited and compiled the lists, writing the actual recommendation copy.
