SXSW Interactive Bash 2018 - Media Temple

I donned the mantle of creative direction for Media Temple’s iconic SXSW Interactive closing party, featuring Steve Aoki and KYLE.

My creative partners included artist Dan Stiles, designer Yu Chang, and GoDaddy’s animation team.

The event won a MarCom Platinum Award in 2018.

Other Posters Get Covered ... Ours Get Stolen

It takes a lot to stand out from the hundreds of posters covering Austin during SXSW, so I reached out to Dan Stiles – whose iconic work has supported Tom Petty, Lauryn Hill, and just about every indie band you’ve heard of. Our team worked with Dan to build out an art toolkit that could be alternately used to hype the party and build the Media Temple brand.

Some of the special tricks up our sleeve:

Using flat micro-electronics, 10 limited-edition posters were created with animated spinning- record eyes. Later distributed to select VIPs.

Color variants boosted event visibility beyond the typical canvasing, creating eye-catching mosaics and increasing repeat engagements.

Video animation brought the event’s art branding to life on stage, providing a dynamic tableau for the concert.
